INDOORS
Jungle Zoo consists of 4 magically themed rooms, with abundant space for every resource children need for learning and play. Designed to excite children’s creative minds, invoke a fun sense of imagination and belonging, our homely rooms encourage individual and small group interactions. Filled with an abundance of natural light, air conditioning for comfort and cosy corners for rest, our purpose-built rooms are sure to delight.
Dreamland – 8 weeks to 20 months
Warm, cosy and loving, our Dreamland room consists of 12 babies and 3 educators at a 1 to 4 ratio.
Woodland – 20 months to 3 years
A magical fairy garden, our woodland room caters for up to 18 children with 4 educators at a 1 to 6 ratio.
Farmland – 3 years to 4 years
Barn yard fun with a view of our own Jungle Zoo animals, our Farmland Room is made up of 22 children with 2 educators at a 1 to 11 ratio.
Jungleland – 4 years to 5 years +
What an adventure our Jungleland holds! With its own tree house and a window to the rainforest, our Jungleland room caters for a Kindergarten program enabling children to reach their full potential in school readiness. The Jungleland room is headed up by an Early Childhood Educator, and experienced Educators, to encourage and engage all your child’s independence and confidence.
Our Kindergarten children are enriched with the older children’s presence, and for a school kid – what a way to expand your day after school, in a Jungleland and Wilderness.
22 Kindergartens and 11 school aged, or 33 Children all up with 3 Educators at all time.
The Jungleland room also caters for our After-School Care Program for children 5 years – 12 years.
OUTDOORS
With over an acre of land, our play spaces for both age groups are expansive, allowing for many opportunities for gross motor skill progress.
Jungle Zoo loves the fact that our outdoor learning environment offers controlled risk taking, with great opportunity for real-life ability development and allows children to connect to nature. Our beautifully landscaped grounds provide wonderous play-based learning opportunities and a magical environment to explore. We have endeavoured to utilise the natural play spaces as the environment intends, bushes, rocks, dirt, waterplay in our river, and digging in our rock pile. Jungle Zoo is designed to allow children to enjoy exploring and discovering their environment, creating their environment through their imagination, playing(working) with the wonders of nature.
Playland
We offer a contained environment for our young babies and toddlers, extremely safe with rubber surfaces and age appropriate toys for stimulating growth and development, to enable learning as they play. Sensory play such as a sand pit with rocks to negotiate, messy play with paints and playdough, waterplay, building blocks, cosy coupes, and small push toys. We know our babies and toddlers will enjoy the space to roam around on their bums, legs, or hands and knees, without the worry of the faster paced older children’s movement interfering with their progress. Our outside area is shaded and cooled with fans, access to water on tap, and close to the change room for toileting and nappy changes. Naturally, sun safety is a priority, and slip slop slap will be a standard part of our outside play.
Adventureland
Let your children out – and watch them run……. Our play space is so large and so interesting, sculpted in various gentle slopes, surrounded by trees, bushes, and plants. Your child will love the wilderness. Whether they are after the freedom to run and explore, sit quietly under a shady bush, ride bikes along the bike track, use their tonka trucks to move around rocks, play in the fairy garden or sandpit, or create their own cubby – they will absolutely adore this space. Naturally, we must maintain a vigilant zoning of adult supervision to watch all the areas, but don’t worry – we’ve got that covered!
Waterland
A wondrous area of water play, with various levels of challenge for children who just want to be wet on those humid days (300 days at least for the Whitsundays).
We appreciate all children are different in their climate control, and may not want to be refreshed and cooled with the waterland, so there’s lots for them to play with that won’t make them insecure or frightened. For those loving the water, our Waterland has been designed to spray not dump, cooling not drenching. There are sitting features and standing under showering features. Certainly safe and secured, and again well supervised. Our daily program allows for waterplay for those interested and with spare clothes for after. During the cooler weather, the waterpark is just as appealing when the water is not going, as the equipment doubles for additional shaded play areas.
Courtyard
Our U-shaped building offers a fantastic outside courtyard, which is designed as a quiet resting area for slower activities, with various types of seating. The Courtyard is fully shaded, with soothing water mists of sprays, ceiling fans that contribute to cooling the children and hanging tree ferns and plants, provide an ambience for everyone while we eat our meals ‘Alfresco’.
Outside of mealtimes, this area is perfect for exploration of our talents in arts and crafts, scientific exploration, construction, and cognitive play. We change the activities regularly to provide stimulating outside learning experiences.
Again, this area is easily accessible to toilets and hand washing, also well supervised with engaging Educators either encouraging appropriate eating, tasting, enjoyment of food, while offering teaching moments for children’s fine motor skills.
A great place for family members to enjoy a snack together and watch children’s possession in the delights of their own Courtyard.
Farmland
We encourage nurturing skills through daily visits with our own farm-yard animals and garden. The children will experience feeding and caring for animals, surrounded by their natural habitat.
Jungle Zoo is surrounded by natural rainforest, with a large portion of our land dedicated to a covenant for the protection of a wallaby reserve. While building cannot take place on this area, the animal life is sure to present at our fences, for the delight of our children. An abundance of birds gather around our many trees, and join in the chitter chatter from our own aviary of birds. Our greenhouse and vegetable gardens are delightful areas for children to commune with nature and realise the potential of their collective efforts when produce is picked and cooked from the kitchen.
